The is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.
But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one business is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
